Traveller’s insurance
The traveller’s insurance is an insurance of the person, covering the expenses incurred for injuries during travelling and diseases which have started while travelling. It is a condition for the compensability of the expenses that the accident has taken place or the disease has started during the travelling. Normally, the treatment expenses of diseases that the insured already had before travelling will only be reimbursed to the extent that they are for acute emergency care for a brief period of time, for example, one week.
The traveller’s insurance may also include various other types of compensation. Depending on the contents of the policy, the insurance may over expenses for cancelled trip or missing the trip for delay.
Normally, the expenses for cancelled trip or other reasons for changes in the original travel plan will be covered when the changes are caused by a serious and sudden illness, injury or death of the insured or certain other persons.
